Korea Untangled is a multilingual Korea travel-information website operated by Park JiHun under the OffVoice name. This policy explains what information the website handles, why it is handled, how long it may remain, and how to contact us.

Privacy questions and requests may be sent to [email protected]. Please do not email passport or identity-document numbers, payment details, passwords, authentication codes, full booking references, or detailed medical information.

Information handled when you visit

Like most websites, the hosting and security layers process technical request information needed to deliver and protect the site. This can include an IP address, request date and time, requested URL, request method, response or security-rule information, browser or user-agent information, referrer where supplied, and a short fragment of a request that triggered a firewall rule.

Cafe24 hosts the WordPress files and database and provides hosting-level access logs, security controls and backups. NinjaFirewall runs at the WordPress layer. Its applicable public-IP anonymization is enabled, centralized logging is disabled, and local firewall logs are configured for automatic deletion after 30 days. Cafe24’s managed account provides daily file and database snapshots available for up to 7 days and event backups available for up to 14 days. Provider-side security, fraud-prevention and operational records may follow Cafe24’s own procedures.

We use this information to serve pages, maintain availability, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, investigate security events and recover the site. We do not use security logs to build advertising profiles.

Caching and essential browser storage

WP Super Cache stores temporary copies of public pages on the hosting server to improve delivery. Logged-in visitors and URLs with query parameters are excluded under the current configuration. Public cache files expire after about 30 minutes and stale-file cleanup is checked about every 10 minutes.

WordPress may use essential cookies for administrators and signed-in users. The Start Here checklist stores progress only in the visitor’s browser under koreaUntangled.startHere.v1; the checklist plugin does not transmit that progress to WordPress or an analytics service.

The language suggestion checks only the browser’s first preferred language on the device. It does not use IP geolocation or send that language value to WordPress. The banner stores nothing until a visitor dismisses it or follows its language link. It then keeps a local preference under koreaUntangled.languageSuggestion.v1:{locale} for up to 30 days after dismissal or 180 days after choosing a language; the preference is not sent to WordPress or an analytics service.

The public homepage does not set an anonymous-visitor analytics cookie and does not load a third-party analytics, advertising, newsletter or embedded-media script. Pages containing a measured KKday or DayKor CTA may load Korea Untangled’s local first-party aggregate measurement script described below. This script does not create a cookie or browser-storage entry.

Email contact

The Contact page uses a mailto: link rather than an on-site form. If you email us, your email provider and our mail provider process the sender and recipient addresses, message content, delivery metadata and any attachment you choose to include. We use that information to understand and answer the message, protect the mailbox and maintain necessary correspondence.

Routine inquiries are deleted when they are no longer needed for the conversation or operational record. A message may be kept longer when reasonably necessary to document a correction, protect the site, resolve a dispute, meet a legal obligation or establish, exercise or defend a claim. You may request deletion, subject to those limits and copies that remain temporarily in backups or mail-system retention.

Helpful feedback and correction reports

Korea Untangled includes an optional privacy-minimized reader-feedback system, but public collection is currently disabled. When disabled, the controls remain hidden and public submission endpoints reject collection.

If Helpful feedback is enabled later, an accepted response is stored only as a daily aggregate for a Guide, answer and allowlisted reason. The feedback database does not store the visitor’s full IP address. A short-lived keyed value derived from the network address may be used for rate limiting. Helpful aggregates become eligible for deletion after 24 months.

If private Correction reports are enabled later, the form accepts an issue type and 20 to 3,000 characters of plain text, with no email field, account, file or screenshot upload. A private report can include its Guide, server-derived page URL, issue type, report text, random reference, workflow status, assignment, internal note and audit timestamps. Reports are not public and are excluded from public search and the public REST API. They become eligible for deletion 365 days after receipt, or 90 days after being marked Resolved, Rejected or Duplicate when that is earlier. Actual cleanup depends on the plugin remaining active and WordPress scheduled tasks running. A deleted item can remain in a protected backup until that backup expires.

Do not submit personal or sensitive information through a correction report. A confirmed substantive correction may produce a factual public Guide change-log entry, but the reporter and private text will not be published.

First-party measurement, analytics and advertising

Korea Untangled counts viewable impressions and clicks for allowlisted KKday and DayKor calls to action. A viewable impression means that at least half of the measured action was visible for about 750 milliseconds; a fast click records the matching impression first. The WordPress database stores only daily totals by event type, CTA channel, campaign, partner, placement, internal page ID and type, page language, and the coarse device category Android, iOS or other. Aggregate rows become eligible for deletion after 24 months.

This first-party measurement does not store a visitor or session identifier, full IP address, browser or User-Agent string, full referrer or page URL, URL query, destination URL, order, revenue or app-install record. It sends without account credentials and does not create an analytics cookie or browser-storage entry. A signed CTA-context value prevents invented campaign fields. For abuse prevention, a rotating keyed value derived from the connection address is used in a rate-limit record scheduled to expire after about 15 minutes; expired records are removed through WordPress access or scheduled cleanup, and the value is not written to the aggregate report.

The aggregate report is used to compare CTA usefulness and placement. KKpartners remains the source for KKday-attributed bookings and commission, while Google Play or approved app-side measurement remains the source for app installs. Counts can differ because the systems measure different steps and apply their own fraud, attribution and processing rules.

Google AdSense, GA4 and other third-party advertising or analytics products are not active on the public site as of the effective date. Before one is activated, we will update this policy and deploy the consent and privacy controls required for the visitors and regions we serve.

If Google advertising is activated, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses and other identifiers to deliver, measure, limit and protect advertising, including fraud prevention. Visitors will receive the applicable notice and choices, including controls for personalized or non-personalized advertising. Google’s explanation is available at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Affiliate links

Korea Untangled has a limited affiliate relationship with KKday. The current pilot places clearly disclosed CTAs on selected Guides for airport transfers, WOWPASS and Korea eSIM options. An ordinary link to a booking platform, app store, transport provider or other service does not by itself mean that Korea Untangled is paid for the link.

Each nearby recommendation clearly states that Korea Untangled may earn a commission when a reader completes a qualifying booking through the KKday link. The URLs contain the KoreaUntangled partner identifier and Guide-specific campaign identifiers. Korea Untangled does not embed KKday’s checkout or set its own affiliate cookie. Its local script increments only the aggregate viewable-impression and click totals described above.

When you choose to follow an affiliate link, KKday may receive standard request information such as the requested URL, partner and campaign identifiers, date and time, browser or device information, IP address and referrer where supplied. KKday may connect a later booking to that referral under its own privacy, cookie and retention practices. Under the affiliate terms reviewed on August 25, 2026, referral attribution may last up to 30 days and a later affiliate click may replace an earlier referral. The active partner is named beside each link and on the Affiliate Disclosure page.

External links and embedded services

Guides link to government agencies, transport providers, app stores, service operators and image-license pages. Following a link takes you to a separate service governed by its own privacy practices. We do not control those services. The site does not currently embed their sign-in, payment or account forms into Korea Untangled pages.

Who receives information

Information is available only as needed to:

  • Park JiHun as the site operator;
  • Cafe24 as the WordPress hosting, security, logging and backup provider;
  • WordPress plugins operating locally on the hosted site for delivery, caching, security and aggregate CTA measurement;
  • email-service providers when you choose to contact us by email; and
  • KKday, only when you choose to follow the clearly disclosed affiliate link.

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse or secure the service. We do not sell personal information.

International processing

The site is operated from South Korea. A visitor’s request may cross borders through their network, browser, security or email provider, and linked external services may process information in other countries. We do not claim that every provider process or backup stays in one country when the provider has not supplied that level of public detail.

Your choices and requests

You may read the core Guides without creating an account, submitting feedback or emailing us. You can clear Start Here progress through your browser’s site-data controls. Blocking JavaScript may prevent an aggregate CTA event from being counted but does not prevent access to the core Guide text. You can also restrict cookies in your browser, although signed-in WordPress functions may not work correctly.

For access, correction, deletion, objection or other privacy questions about information that can reasonably be linked to you, email [email protected]. Because CTA measurement and Helpful responses are aggregate and Correction reports are designed to be anonymous, we may be unable to isolate one person’s response without information sufficient to locate the relevant record. We may ask for reasonable verification before acting on a request, but we will not ask you to send a password or full identity-document number by ordinary email.

Children

Korea Untangled is a general travel-information service, not a service directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly ask children to create accounts or submit personal information through the website.

Security and limitations

We use HTTPS, hosting-level security controls, a WordPress firewall, restricted administrative access, caching controls and backups. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. If you believe information has been exposed or the site is being abused, contact us promptly.

Changes to this policy

We will update the effective date and publish a clear revision when our collection, providers, affiliate links, advertising, analytics, contact methods or feedback tools materially change. Material changes will be reviewed before the affected feature is enabled.

From September 10, 2026, the browser also classifies the immediate referring site into a fixed category: Google, Bing, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, internal, other, or unavailable. Only the category is sent with existing CTA events; the referring address and query are not sent to this measurement endpoint or saved in its aggregate table. No visitor identifier, cookie or browser storage is added. This does not connect journeys across pages: internal links are internal, and missing referrers remain unavailable. Google includes ordinary and AI search. Categories are not verified AI citations, unique visitors, bookings or revenue; existing retention and abuse controls apply.
